PCCN
(Portage Congregational Community Nursery) is a cooperative preschool
in Portage, MI, with programs for both 3 and 4 year olds.
What is our
Philosophy?
PCCN is a cooperative
preschool where the teacher, the parents and the children all work
together. Our school is not based on the philosophy of having all
children attain a certain level of academic achievement, but rather the
consistent nurturing of each individual child to fulfill his/her own
particular social, physical, emotional and academic capabilities.
What is a Cooperative Preschool?
As
a
cooperative preschool, the parents are required to
work a certain number of days throughout the
year to assist the teacher as needed. On working days parents fulfill
classroom
responsibilities, follow daily clean-up schedule, and most importantly
help our
children learn. Parents are required to attend the field trips and the
parent meetings held throughout the year. Also, parents will be
required to
contribute at least one day during the year
to be part of a routine monthly clean-up in the
classroom. Our cooperative preschool offers parents the opportunity to
observe
their children in a unique, fun-loving, educational environment and to
participate in their learning experience.
